Bladder Spasms

Hi all,

For the last 5 months or so I have horrible baldder spasms when I pee,

actually right after. As far as I know I don't have IC. I don't ever have

frequency or urgency and can hold it forever. Every now and then I do have

some pain with urination if I am not well hydrated. Of course the urine

burns my skin too.

Does anyone know of anything that can help with the spasms? Since it is only

when I have my period I am wondering if it related to my endo.

Thanks,

Sandi

I can't say for sure but your symptoms sound kind of similar to mine,

and I was just diagnosed with urethritis. Being able to hold it,

burning or stinging after going, spasms...I have all those too. Maybe

you should ask your doctor about it. I wouldn't see why you would

just have it during your period though.

I was just diagnosed last Thursday, and I was told by my gyn. the

treatment should be a urethral dilation, that it would cure the

spasms (although I've only noticed one). I've probably had urethritis

for a while, at least 6 months; actually I thought it was just part

of the VVS, but the stories of undiagnosed bladder infections and ICs

made me go talk to my doctor about it. Some here have said that this

treatment is old-fashioned, so I'm seeing a urologist for a second

opinion tomorrow. But my discomfort hasn't been bad the past few

days, I just got my period, did you say that you noticed less

symptoms then too? Weird.

I did some research on urethritis and usually they treat it with

antibiotics, although for us VVS sufferers that might not be such a

good idea. My gyn seemed to think the urethritis and vestibulitis are

related, when I saw him I tested positive for yeast and he said

diflucan might make the urethritis go away too. I can't tell if it

worked or not, the past few days I haven't had hardly any discomfort,

but then again maybe because I have my period...?

Sandy, I had severe bladder spasms and was helped by taking oxybutnin

for about 2 mos. It causes dry mouth but for me helped to ease spasm

about 80% (prescript med). I haven't had to take it now for months.

Lately, I have noticed that when there is vv inflammation or a flare

taking place in the 12 o'clock area just above the urethra, but below

the clitoris, I have pain and resulting spasm after urinating.

Applying a barrier ointment, such as A & D cream, helps that problem

but I have to apply it very carefully, allowing the warmth from the

vulvar skin to " melt " the ointment off of my Q-tip. If I touch the

inflammation by hand or with a Q-tip, I have the same burning as the

post-urination burn, which then causes spasms. Hope this helps,

Healing thoughts, Dory

Hi, Sandi

I had the same thing which started after I started taking Guai.

I believe you started taking Guai about five months ago and wonder if

it could be that. Guai is supposed to make your body eliminate

phosphates and also oxalates.

However I stopped taking Guai and the pain continued - finally turned

into a bladder infection or some other kind of infection which knocked

me flat.

So get yourself checked out.
