Guest guest
Hi :-) _No_ offense taken :-) Lazy was not implied by the repost but, easy-fix was because I feel so badly for those that chase dreams while living reality. The two don't mix. Reality is reality and dreams are dreams. Dreaming can only change reality.. over time... Imagination is what links the two. And if one can dream of losing weight (good) and use imagination sprinkled with facts of reality ie. reducing calories (good), weight loss might just become as real for them as it has for me. To achieve this requires a profound psychological change, a re-make, re-do of thinking, of mind. Without actually saying it.. I was gently trying to save headaches and heartaches for those of whom so desperately want to lose weight. and spend both time and money, but to no avail. " The " nutriceutical industry " makes billions of dollars because they do not test nor prove the safety of anything they sell. All they need to do is advertise and bank on the supreme gullibility of the American public. This works well for them. Don't be their dupes. " (Dr. Ain) I am a very sensitive person and observe people and things in life in a vary dignified light. I make fun of no one.. because of race, color or creed nor of their looks, speech or dress:-) I _know_ that there are many who have metabolic processes that make exquisite use of any nourishment. And these are those that tend to gain and keep unwanted pounds. We keep seeing references that say that the thyroid gland controls body metabolism, but can't prove it by me because with a tsh of 0.02 I should be back to skinny, again. Nothing has changed with the way I gain or lose weight, neither before or after thyroid removal. I think that the thyroid _does_ control cell metabolism but only the RATE at which speed a cell does it's work. What the _whole_ organism (body) does with calories I think, is much more complex, involved and controlled than just by the thyroid, alone. The idea of the thyroid being the metabolic control factor for gaining/losing weight is just too simple an idea. As a kid.. I was skinny and tried everything that I could think of to _gain_ weight. When weight-gain was no longer my interest and I stopped thinking about it, years later... guess what :-) I started-to-gain. Not much, but a little at a time until I became 40 pounds over the weight that I.. wanted to be. (the hell with the charts) And I found that by eating less (fewer calories) I stopped gaining. Reducing caloric intake even more... and I actually started to lose weight. When I want to lose weight, I find that I must reduce intake so as to consume in _3_ days what it was that I was consuming _every_ day. I lost 30 of the forty lbs. by eating this way. But my love of eating takes me up a fast 10-12 lbs. before I even notice it. Once I've lost the weight ... if I really pay attention... and consume in 2 days what I used to consume in one... then I pretty much stay at the lost-weight figure. It ain't fun, I know. But I feel physically better. Consuming less does work for me. A lot less! There's a fellow whom I have worked with for the past 20+ years. 3 years ago he was up to 385 lbs. and was at great risk of dying. He didn't feel too bad with the extra 200 lbs. and use to kid me about how stuffed I said I was feeling with my +40 lbs. He had surgery to reduce the size of his stomach, through which he lost 200 lbs. He stayed at the reduced weight for about a year, until he felt fully recovered. Then he started to snack a little bit.. then more and now he's up to 275. (from 185) And.. he keeps eating. While he watched his intake.. he gained no weight, but now..................... I dunno, I.. really.. dunno....... And in order to survive and become whole again (both in body & mind) we must learn new skills and the use of new " tools " . We will never be the same. (nor would I want to be) This illness, like a broken bone, will.. with proper care cause both my mind and body to become stronger, than ever before. This illness was/is an opportunity for profound growth and I will make good use of the opportunity. > >Success comes to those who know it isn't coming to them and who go out to get it. > > >The recipe for perpetual ignorance is: be satisfied with your opinions and content with your knowledge. > > > >Not merely what we do, but what we try to do and why, are the true interpreters of what we are. > > >We are made wise not by the recollections of our past but by the responsibilities of our future. >I am only one >but still I am one >I cannot do everything >and because I cannot do everything >I will not refuse to do something that I can > E.
