Socialization is one of the foremost challenges associated with autism. This month's issue of The OARacle, organized around the theme, "Social Skills and Sexuality," addresses the topic. , the Coordinator of the Sexuality Education and Reproductive Health Program at the The Cody Center for Autism and Developmental Disabilities in NY opens the discussion. OAR President, Gerhardt contributes with his new Research Update column that highlights three recently published research studies that revolve around the topic of "increasing happiness." The report on the Wisconsin Early Autism Project identifies the acquisition of social skills as one of the key factors for the children who were most successful in that program. Carley provides his personal perspective on life before and after his diagnosis with Asperger Syndrome, and finally we profile GRASP, a nonprofit support group for persons on the spectrum founded, organized, and led by and other men and women with ASD.

In other parts of the newsletter, you'll read about the plans and promise of the Center at the University of Missouri , the enthusiastic response from previous runners to this year's RUN FOR AUTISM, and the first details about Other Voices, a comedy/cabaret night to be held at Carolines on Broadway in New York City in May.
