Guest guest
Dear FORUM, Saying words “Promoting People Living with HIV/AIDS and empowering them” is just words and not in action for some NGOS. This is the case of a leading NGO in the Salem District and it's Project Manager Mrs.Kavita. On 9th November 2005, Ms.Kavitha of Project Concern International (PCI) came to Salem District Level Network – (SNP+) which is affiliated to the State Unit of Tamil Nadu – TNP+ and INP+ and threatened the President of SNP+ and degraded the rights of the people living with HIV/AIDS and the positive networks. The summary of the threatening message spoken by Mrs.Kavitha Santhoak, Project Manager, Project Concern International (PCI) to Ms.Shanthi, President – TNP+: · The staffs and the members of the SNP+ should not contact and meet the PLHA of Salem district and the PLHAs associated with the PCI · SNP+ members should never enter the care center run by the PCI in Salem · “Why you are visiting the Salem Government Hospital?”, · “Who gave the permission to visit the Salem Government Hospital?” · “What rights you have to enter the Salem Government Hospital?” We feel that such behavior is not good and healthy for the society We PLHA coming forward to show the face to the epidemic to create an enabling environment for People Living with HIV/AIDS and various NGOs were supporting for the same cause in the field of HIV/AIDS. We strongly condemn this type of degrading attitude.
