How do I find more information on this particular piece of it....about the a.m. seizures, etc? Jake takes 2 depakotes at night....and wakes betw. 3:30/5a.m., or has a seizure at that time. I've considered trying to decrease the evening depakote, but am looking for more info first. Let me know if you can help me find this....Thanks - Barb Swoyer, Jake's mom > > Isabel Walcutt wrote: > > > According to Goldenberg's essay, reported by Bill, the above > paper reports a drop in fasting blood ketones ( this is consistent with > valproate > > > kids' seizures in the night, as well as early morning seizures and > seizures > > > when there has been an interval without food): > > > " ..reduced fasting ketonemia has been shown to occur during simultaneous > > > administration of valproate...and ketogenic diet treatment. > > > >
Guest guest
We were told when beginning the diet that valproate interferes with the diet in some way. We weened our grandaughter off of the Depakene over a 3 month period. We've had control almost since the inception of the diet. Hopefully this is helpful.
