Guest guest
Sunday night my husband and I had a wreck. There was a tree down across the road and we didn't see it until we were right on top of it. Needless to say we slammed into it going about 40mph. I was x- rayed at the hospital and had a CAT scan and the doc said that everything was okay. I called the neurosurgeon that did my decompression almost two years ago and the nurse said that I really shouldn't have any problems from the accident since it has been so long since surgery. When we wrecked I hit my head hard on the dash and a tree branch came through the windshield and sheered off part of my hair. I had a big knot on my forehead that filled with fluid, left no bruise, then got swollen between my eyes and I am left with a little discoloration in the corner of each eye. I am having headaches, dizziness, ears ringing worse than before and today I have started having tingling in my left foot and left hand and my legs hurt from the knees down. I am really concerned that this has messed up my decompression but the nurse swears that it won't. Anyone have any experience with this? Anyone have any experience with this? > Jen Dear Jen and Group, My name is and I am a " newbie " to the group. Personally, I have not had any head trauma since my decompression (1998), but Jen's question prompted me to ask a question that has been bothering me since being diagnosed. In 1983, I was in an auto accident and was hospitalized with a concussion, fractured pelvis and knee. I don't remember ever having a CT scan of my head, and the hospital no longer has my records (by law they only have to keep medical records for 7 years). Anyway, since being diagnosed with ACM and Hydrocephalus in 1998; and after doing extensive research of my own, I can't help but wonder if that accident over 15years ago triggered " mild " symptoms of the Chiari? Since the accident I have had headaches, vision problems, and fatigue; but I attributed it to aches and pains of the accident. Does anyone think I could be right about this? The doctors say Labryinthitis was the menace that triggered my symptoms. Sometimes when we can put our finger on a reason behind something, it makes it a little easier to deal with. Thanks in advance for everyone's imput. Best of health to all. , 44, ACM I and Hydrocephalus, shunted (6/98); still having lots of problems.
