Guest guest
, Routine blood tests sometimes are NOT sensitive enough to pick up this type of discrepancy. I've learned from many months of PCOS e- boards that many women that suffered from infertility but had " normal " blood tests were actually having hormonal problems not detected by standard tests. Good luck : ) > Dee, and all > > I have had my hormones tested a few times (blood test) and they always come out normal. Well I did the saliva test from Great Smokies Lab and they didn't come out normal. It says " weak estradiol activity is noted " and that my " progesterone activity is erratic. " Now I am kind of freaking out because it also says that weak estradiol suggest presence of ovarian dysfunction or adrenal dysfunction. I am not real sure what all of this mean. My acupuncturist is the one that ordered the test. She wants me to get on hormone replacement therapy with the natural hormones. I am not just going to do that because she is not a doctor. I think I will talk to Dr about it when I go see him. I am just confuse because why would my blood test be okay? Apparently it is not that bad or it would have been detected by the blood test. Have any of you done this saliva test and what were your results? What did you do about them? I am only 22 and I am scared to go on hormone replacement.....couldn't that cause cancer even if it is natural hormones? I wonder if the pill is what knocked my hormones off?? Ahh!! All of my other hormones are okay. That acupuncturist talked to some natural pharmacy and they suggested Tri-est .625 mg (then it is in pharm terms so I have no idea what it means) and Progesterone 200 mg..1 twice daily on days 14-26 of cycle. I wonder if the estrace would help me...I am still using it. It has been almost a month..It helps some, but I don't know how far it will take me...Dee-- -Anyone---any ideas? > > Thanks, > Suzanne
Guest guest
Suzanne, << I have had my hormones tested a few times (blood test) and they always come out normal. This will give a false level, as only the " free " hormones are available to the cells. Once they are bound, they will not influence anything else. The saliva levels will only indicate the " free " hormones, so this will be a more accurate level of what is available. Hope this helps.
