They gave me a pulmonary test which tested my lungs for flexibility and capacity, they also gave me a blood test which included a baseline test for thyroid activity. I did not have an eye test since I was at the eye Dr for my normal check-up a few months earlier. I have had no eye sensitivity to sunlight. The nurse at the Cardio office said to not worry about the thyroid because they will just give me synthroid which is an artificial replacement. I was not impressed with her response because I don't want to be dependent on any more drugs. I have not been tired due to the amiodarone but I seem to be lucky in that respect, I take attenalol also with no noticeable effects although early on when I just started I had some pretty bad dizzy spells when I got up in the morning, hopefully your tiredness will go away. I was started on 400mg daily for a month and then changed to 200mg. Simultaneously with the cutback to 200mg I had pretty severe stomach problems that went away in about 4 days and I don't know if I had a bug or if it was the heavier dose of amiodarone. Good Luck( to both of us) Guy
Guest guest
I'm on Amiodarone, but don't take warfarin, just a baby aspirin every day.

Guest guest
<Does anybody happen to know how long it takes your body to be free of Amiodarone once you have stopped taking it ?> " Amiodarone and N-desethyl-amiodarone [the pharmacologically active metabolite] are virtually exclusively eliminated hepatically, although biliary excretion may play a small role in the excretion of amiodarone. As a consequence of its distribution characteristics, the elimination of amiodarone occurs in a biphasic fashion, with an initial reduction of plasma concentrations of 50% occurring within 10 days. The terminal elimination half-life ranges from 26-107 days with a mean of around 53 days. " I think, amongst other things, it will depend on how long you've been taking it and how large you are. You can certainly be looking at many months. -- D
