Hi, Stacey!

, another mom and group member, suggested I try to reach you

through " 's List. " My 12 year-old daughter, who has HFA, and I

are seriously considering relocating to Broward County from Louisiana

at the end of the current school year. However, I have some

questions that need to be answered before we actually leave, and was

told you are the person to ask!

In addition to your recommendations regarding the ESE program in

Broward, I am wondering if there is any way in the world to find

reliable before and after camp/school care. I'm an ICU RN who works

7am-7pm three days a week. I have sent fliers and posted ads all

over the place in search of part-time nanny (preferably someone with

an academic interest and/or prior experience), but have received

virtually no response. It's kind of hard for me to believe that

there is NO ONE is the tri-county area that wouldn't want to earn $10-

$12/hour to simply provide companionship, supervision, and

transportation to a sweet, very self-sufficient girl with pretty

decent verbal skills 20-25 hours per week.

I have been in touch with Grigull at Broward ESE services and he

was very nice. I have tried to reach ARC Broward and a few other

agencies, but they haven't returned my calls. CARD/NSU has been

terrific, however.

Any help you can offer is greatly appreciated. One of the reasons we

chose your area is because although it isn't perfect as far as

services for our kids are concerned, they are at least options,

something that we simply don't have here in Louisiana, especially as

our kids get older. There also some terrific professional

opportunities for me in South Florida, but I don' want to leave the

stability we have here if I can't obtain good child care, etc.
