Guest guest
Ref the Moderator's note: the patient who claims she was insulted and assaulted by me was not dropped from my free ART program because she developed disagreements with me. She was dropped because of 1. deceit and 2. becoming ineligible for free treatment. I have raised funds from friends and personal contacts for HIV+ve patients who cannot afford to buy the drugs. How can I misuse these funds for patients who can buy the drugs? Every patient who takes free treatment when they can buy it, deprives a poor patient of treatment. My question is: how many patients now receiving the free HIV drugs from WHO funding are actually below the poverty line? Will West Bengal State Aids Prevention and Control Society investigate the situation in Kolkata? My email to them is undeliverable. I have also referred this issue to WHO, New Dellhi, since I understand they have supplied funding for the free ART supplied by School of Tropical Medicine in Kolkata. Another question of interest to those of us purchasing ART drugs: Have the drug companies supplying ART for free distribution in Kolkata yet been paid? The longer the payments are delayed the sooner will the drug companies have to raise the price of ART drugs for those of us who pay our bills, including individual patients. Therefore, may we know the reason for the delay, since the WHO funds have been made available? Are the drug companies expected to pay for the privilege of supplying the ART for free distribution? Like NGOs are expected to pay for the privilege of bringing in foreign donations from abroad? Jack Preger. E-mail: <j_preger@...>
