(SENIOR MANAGER - HIV/AIDS, AIF, New Delhi)

1. Position Vacant:

Senior Manager-HIV/AIDS (SMHA)

2. Organization:

American India Foundation (AIF) is a leading India-focused development

organisation, charged with the mission of accelerating social and economic

change in the country.

AIF awards grants to education, livelihood, and public health projects in India,

with emphasis on elementary education, women's empowerment and HIV/AIDS.

3. Job Description/ Responsibilities:

The organisation would like to recruit a Senior Manager to develop and

effectively manage its HIV/AIDS grants portfolio in India, being implemented

through its Delhi office.

The Senior Manager-HIV/AIDS (SMHA) shall report to the Executive Director of the

India Office, while working closely with the Director, HIV/ AIDS Program based

at New York. Key responsibilities of the SMHA shall include the following:

(1) Identify and recommend potential grantee initiatives in priority areas and

facilitate submission of proposals;

(2) Assess applications through telephone and site visits, including

interpreting financial accounts and data;

(3) Analyse and present national policies relevant to HIV/AIDS;

(4) Monitor and evaluate performance of ongoing projects;

(5) Prepare materials such as progress reports for inclusion in communications

and advocacy initiatives;

(6) Review and recommend new areas for grant-making and strategies as needed;

(7) Represent AIF at professional meetings and to the broader community of

supporters;

(8) Prepare documents for board meetings and professional gatherings, etc.

4. Desired Profile of the Candidate:

(1) Graduate in Social Sciences or Public Health from a premier institute or

university, with a minimum of 8 to 10 years of social development work;

(2) Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in HIV/AIDS in India, the nature, scope

and impact of the disease;

(3) Proven experience in grant making and project management;

(4) Formulation of budgets;

(5) Willing and able to travel extensively.

Skills and attributes shall include:

(1) Capability to function collaboratively and productively in multidisciplinary

functions;

(2) Maturity and experience, enabling the incumbent to promote and protect the

reputation of the organization in external settings;

(3) Exposure to interacting with Government, stakeholders and other national and

international NGO's;

(4) Demonstrable skills in planning and programme management;

(5) Excellent communication, leadership and team building skills;

(6) Excellent interpersonal and management skills;

(7) Fair and positive work attitude;

(8) Excellent computer skills;

(9) Excellent time management, and multi-tasking skills and ability to work in a

deadline driven environment

5. Desired Work Experience:

Minimum 8-10 years

6. Compensation Offered:

The starting salary for the post shall be Rs. 500,000/- p.a. (gross)
