Guest guest
Its minister's party slams her but NACO speaks up for Khushboo Reaction to actor remark worries NACO chief Rao TOUFIQ RASHID Posted online: Tuesday, November 22, 2005 at 0201 hours IST NEW DELHI, NOV 21: If Health Minister Anbumani Ramadoss's party PMK has taken the lead in targeting Khushboo for her remarks on pre- marital sex, support for the film actress has come from an organisation under his own ministry. National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO) Director General Sujatha Rao, speaking today at the launch of the Global AIDS epidemic report by UNAIDS, said the reaction to Khushboo's remark can have a negative impact on the AIDS awareness programme. ``The controversy over Khushboo's comments on pre-marital sex makes me very worried. We need to be prepared on these issues which are very central to contain HIV/AIDS. Some surveys show that one in five men have extra-marital sex while only 25 per cent of these use condoms. Another survey shows that 30 per cent of youth have experimented with pre-marital sex. Besides, Khushboo only talked of safe sex,'' Rao said. UNAIDS Executive Director Piot said difficult issues like homosexuality and sex outside marriage need to be addressed. http://www.indianexpress.com/full_story.php?content_id=82478
