Guest guest
Wednesday night, we calculated 4 ml of flax oil into Lukey's tube feeding regimen. I thought I saw a slight increase of ketones (small in a.m. rather than trace, and deep moderate in p.m. rather than small), but now we're seeing trace morning levels again. My impression from everyone here was that the ketones rose a great deal very quickly by adding flax - maybe 4 ml/day isn't enough? How long should I wait before bumping it up a bit? Also, I wonder if what may be throwing us off is his overnight continuous pump feed. The flax oil rises to the top of the bag, and there it sits. The pump automatically stops when the formula level reaches a certain low, and that happens before the flax gets pumped in, because the flax oil is still in his tube bag when it shuts off. So I am sure that's throwing off his ratio, since he's not getting all his fats. How can I make sure the flax oil stays mixed? I shake it like crazy, but it only seems to take seconds before it floats up to the top. Do I have to get up during the night to squeeze the bag and keep the flax mixed in? I'm stumped! Anybody have any tricks? Would it help if I put the formula in the blender? Heidi
