Seems like a lot of us are on LID right now ... tommorrow is day 6! I

think it's crimal to have to do all this thinking about food when the

hypo feeling is making me feel like I've had a few too many drinks ...

I made the ORANGE Muffins from the LID cookbook (yummy), it took me

forever to figure out what ingredients I had added & which I had not!

Of course it didn't help that my 3 & 6 year old kids were trying to

help!! LOL! I really think that our Insurance should have to pay for a

trained personal chef to cook our LID diets while HYPO ... we can be

pretty dangerous in the kitchen! LOL!

I'm sorry I'm not much help on the list you are asking about:

6. Ocean Spray cran-grape ... are there Red Dyes in that?

8. Scudders Natural PB (unsalted/smooth) ... I'm using a natural

PB no salt too ... I think it's okay, for me it's PB & J every lunch!

I'm also enjoying the Hershey's Special Dark recipe .... I added

unsalted almonds .... now I can treat myself to Almond Bark!! Next I'm

dipping some strawberries! LOL! I'm still working on my bread ... the

1st morning of LID I woke up to a loaf that was 2 " thick ... the Utah

altitude is hard to factor in to my water to yeast ratio!! LOL! It's

slowly getting better!

Any body have a good chocolate or banana muffin recipe? I'm liking the

portability of the muffins! I think I'd be really hurting if I

couldn't have my diet coke!!! ... yes I have a sweet tooth ... BUT all

these sweets without a tall glass of cold MILK, it's just not right

....don't worry you health food eaters ... I do have half watermelon

cubed & ready for munching in the fridge!! LOL!

Nov.3/00;lymph node removal, Nov.13/00;pap/thyca,TT .. Dec.19/00;

2mCi.RAI, Dec.22/00;100mCi.RAI quarantine ... June 15/01;tg 0.5 ...

NOW GETTING READY FOR TRACER BODY SCAN Aug 10th/01!

1. Mountain Dew (bottled or fountain, not canned)

from what Ian has discovered canned may be better than bottled

regarding iodine, be sure to check the ingredients

> 2. UNSALTED corn tortilla chips (Trader Joe's brand, or another

brand)

again, check the ingredients

> 3. Dried fruit (ie, dried apples from trader joes)

might be ok if they aren't treated with anything in the drying

process (some are)

> 4. Unsalted/Roasted peanuts

go for it

> 5. DRY cheerios or honey nut cheerios (I miss the milk!!)

read the package for salt...

> 6. Bottled apple juice (tree top or motts type) and other bottled

> juices, ie Ocean Spray cran-grape

again, review ian's posts on bottling

> 7. Sunmaid raisins (boxed

typically ok if not treated with anything (i think sunmaid were the

ones i ate an awful lot of when on the LID)

> 8. Scudders Natural PB (unsalted/smooth)

no salt = ok

Freshly ground black pepper

1/2 teaspoon Dijon mustard - check ingredients first, leave out if

salt

1 small clove garlic, peeled, green germ removed, and minced

1/4 cup (60 ml) extra-virgin olive oil

or leave out the garlic if you don't like it, use red wine vinegar

for different

also check out www.epicurious.com, it has a wealth of recipies,

easily adapted by leaving out the non LID ingredients

Sorry, couldn't find your name.

From the list below, only the items in glass jars or bottles must be treated

with suspicion. Plastic bottles, cartons & cans are OK.

In theory, commercial salt (as opposed to table salt) should be OK, so the

peanuts, chips etc should be OK, but I wouldn't trust them too much.
