Guest guest
To All: My own impression from my endo is that there is nothing inherently wrong with mixing meds. However, when I had been on 125 synthroid and he wanted me to try 137, he switched me to levoxyl ( an alternative would have been to take 125 synthroid plus half of a 25 synthroid). Then when he decided to change my dose again, he felt that it would be better to stay with levoxyl. His reason for maintaining this consistency was that synthroid and levoxyl may be formulated differently (i.e., fillers, etc.) and that this may affect their absorption. So in general, based on my endos explanation to me, it is better to stick with one brand, but there is nothing terribly wrong with using two brands at one time. Also, he did not seem concerned with levoxyl vs. synthroid; both were acceptable. Marilyn Loeb, Rochester, NY
