Guest guest
Hello, I would like to know if anyone has successfully had their child removed from a cluster program to a general education class? My sons teacher has advised that in May we will be having an IEP meeting to discuss his goals and I believe that he is ready to be moved in to a general education class. He is 7 years old and in the 1st grade. He currently being pulled out of his Autistic cluster to have reading with a general education 1st grade class. What are my rights in regards to this. Will I need an advocate? And if I am not in agreement with the IEP that is set up, can I dispute it? I am concerned that if the IEP takes place in May and I am unhappy with the suggestions offered that I will have an impossible time trying to have it changed over the summer(when school is out), and in time for him to being 2nd grade in the fall. Thank you, Audrey (' mom)
