Guest guest Posted November 3, 2005 Report Share Posted November 3, 2005 BBC World Service Trust Vacancy: Project Officer Term: initially 1 year, starting as soon as possible Location: Delhi Summary BBC World Service Trust (BBC WST) conducts a mass media campaign in support of the Government of India's efforts to promote knowledge of HIV/AIDS and sustained behaviour change. The campaign produces award-winning public service announcements and two television serials: Jasoos Vijay and Haath se Haath Milaa. The project is in partnership with the National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO) and the state broadcaster, Doordarshan. The Project Officer will work closely with the Head of Project and Project Manager on the day-to-day implementation of the HIV/AIDS mass-media campaign, which includes a broad range of project outputs and partnerships. The role requires a strategic thinker who understands the media and development field and is able to multi-task and prioritise. Responsibilities of the Project Officer include implementing capacity building of project partners, coordinating relations, events and workshops with key project stakeholders, including government, NGOs and the media, and document and prepare reports on project progress and lessons learned. The Delhi-based position is a fixed-term contract beginning as soon as possible for initially 1 year. BBC WST will consider part-time or flexible working hours for this post. Applicants must be Indian residents. Main duties: * Plan and coordinate capacity building workshops with NACO, Doordarhshan and other strategic partners * Participate in the strategic development of the project and of funding bids for future projects * Document project progress reports and lessons learned * Organise and design content for project events, such as a high-profile national meeting with multiple stakeholders * Liaise with project partners and external organisations on HIV/AIDS messaging and best practice sharing *Write content for BBC WST's website and seek other platforms for this content, such as other websites featuring media and development content * Keep abreast of related national and international events with a view to seeking out new opportunities to develop relations with other organisations. Initiate and coordinate submissions to conferences or awards ceremonies * Assisting the Head of Project and Project Manager by arranging meetings, providing briefing, writing reports and such other tasks as are requested Skills and experience: * Advanced graduate degree in social sciences or public health *At least 3 years of project experience within an international development organisation or media environment * Experience in behaviour change communication and media would be an advantage * Excellent written and oral communication skills, together with competency in all aspects of Microsoft Office programmes * Strong interpersonal and diplomatic skills, ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with a range of people * Experience in press relations, including writing press releases * Self starter, excellent analytical skills and an ability to think strategically Email CVs and cover letter explaining why you should be considered for the position, to jobs@....
