Holly Bortfeld wrote: May 4, 2006Dear Friends,At CARD our mission is to strive for increased research on autism-relatedsubjects to further our efforts to effectively treat and provide informationto our clients. As part of this objective, we are assisting Dr. Wakefield and the Thoughtful House Center for Children in collectinginformation about children in whom an autistic spectrum disorder (ASD) wasapparently triggered by exposure to Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) vaccine. In particular we are interested in the younger siblings of these childrenwho did not get the MMR vaccination because of concerns regarding measlesvirus exposure. If you have a child (or children) who is a younger sibling of a child withan ASD, where regression followed exposure to MMR

vaccine (whether or notyou related it at the time to MMR exposure), and you have younger childrenwho did not receive MMR or single measles vaccines and who have nodocumented exposure to measles, we would like your help. Dr. Wakefield andhis staff at Thoughtful House would like to analyze results from a simpleblood test which measures measles virus IgG antibodies. If you plan to perform or have already performed this blood test on yourunvaccinated child/children for the purpose of determining their immunity tomeasles, we would be most grateful if you would share these results withThoughtful House. Your child's data will be treated in the strictestconfidence such that nothing that identifies your child will be communicatedto any third party without your expressed written permission. With your participation, Thoughtful House staff would also like to conduct ashort telephone interview with you.

To participate, please emailinfo@... with the subject line SIBLING SEROLOGY STUDY. Ifyou have a measles antibody result on your unvaccinated youngerchild/children, please indicate this in your message and state the result(i.e. positive or negative), along with your contact information. We appreciate your participation. If you should have any questions, pleasecontact Thoughtful House Center for Children at . Sincerely,Doreen Granpeesheh, PhD, BCBA
