Guest guest
Hi,, I spoke once before of Alycia " talking to her toes " and how cute I thought it was. Well, she's almost 5 and she still does this only her feet " talk to eachother " now. She assigns her feet an identity and has them talk to eachother in the voice that matches the assigned idenity. For example, a big deep voice if the foot is daddy and a little tiny voice if the other foot is Alycia. Then the feet will have a conversation which is very frequently a re-working of a converstation had earlier between the two identies. For example, she scripted an arguement she had with her father about whether or not they would eat in a restaurant word for word as it was actually said then she changed the outcome more to her liking on the second scripting. She does this all day long...duing naps, rides in the car, watching TV, eating her meals, reading, quiet play times, etc.. The only time she doesn't do it is when she is actively engaged in a physical activity like playing outside or crafts. Is this normal? All I can picture are those poor old folks with dementia walking around having conversations with themselves. This is essentially what she is doing. She does interact with her peers and the adults in her life so this habit isn't excluding " real " conversation. It is really sort of getting on my nerves but at least if I knew it were normal, it wouldn't concern me so much. Lori
