Guest guest
My dear friends of India AIDS Forum I wish you and your families merry Christmas and wonderful new year. I must throw a message in this occassion to share with you my realization and feelings about HIV/AIDS after working in this field for ten long years. We know HIV is Human Immune Deficiency Virus that causes AIDS. But to me, HIV is no more a virus but a paticular situation which traps a person to push him/her into dire demolition. So, HIV is not just a virus but 'Hunger & Ignorance led Vulnerability'. Lets remove HIV with AIDS A Access to food I Integrated approach (Health and Education) D Devoted leadership S Sustainability In Solidarity, Sugata Dr Sugata Mukhopadhyay (Ganguli) CARE India, New Delhi E-mail: <sugataids@...>
Guest guest
Dear FORUM, This referes to Dr. Sugata Mukhopadhyays new year greetings: Dr. Sugata Mukhopadhyays challenge to go beyond superficialities is a very welcome one. Approaching HIV / AIDS with " Band Aid's " is more the norm than the exception at the present time. Looking into the mirror that is HIV would mean looking at what society is really going through. Vulnerability that comes from being downright insecure, whether in terms of food or livelihood or in any other form, is a fundamental structural issue that needs far more thought in addressing, than has been currently accorded in all the programming going on across the world. Thank you for pointing it out in a year that the world is going to converge on an international aids conference, to crow about " successful leadership " in the global fight against the epidemic. Leadership that fails to address core issues of vulnerability leaves the community of the infected / affected, and the community of the concerned, to work with mere " Band Aid's " . India begins a third decade this year in addressing the epidemic. May the 21st year be the one that we achieve maturity in doing so. Regards, Dr. Bobby E-mail <bj@...>
