What does "came back all okay" mean? What kind of hormone test did

your doctor do and what kind of results did he share with you?

Polyps can indeed cause this kind of bleeding. You stated you had

an ultrasound. Was it transvaginal as well abdominal? Do you

have access to the report?

Hi Bonnie and DeAnn and listmembers,

You know it is so true that we need to rule out any other possible

reason for heavier-than-normal periods and any intermittent bleeding

BEFORE we go into that OR for any fibroid-related surgery. But I had

always thought (and so did the docs) that in my case the bleeding was

due to the fibroid because it was so huge and also don't intramurals

cause bleeding?

The going " theory " is that I may need progesterone to regulate my

cycle. Worse comes to worse, I may need a d & c. Bonnie, a gyny friend

also recommends that I find out whether the RE gave me a d & c while

doing the myo (have a feeling he didn't; but is that de rigueur?) and

also if he looked at the inside of my uterine cavity

hysteroscopically (I had thought he did but now I'm not so sure).

I'll find these out next week. Any other recommendations as to what

questions I should ask?

I've had a complete blood count, yes. It was normal: no infection and

no anemia; a hormone test (more about that in my reply to Carla); and

a transvag ultrasound showing a back-to-normal-size uterus and normal

ovaries. And no fibroids. Right now, the next step is checking my

lining on the 4th day of my periods (yikes! That's like the worst day

for me. I get to spend pretty much the whole day in the bathroom.

Joy!). If that turns out okay and I'm still bleeding like this, then

as Bonnie recommends, I will definitely see someone else.

Emotionally I don't feel so good but I'm trying to look on the bright

side: I'm not bleeding every day of the month any more. But I did

have mid-cycle bleeding this month. Anybody know why that happens?

Any of you have that happen?

Anyway, as I find out more I will keep the list in the loop. Thanks

Bonnie and DeAnn for replying to my mail.

Rani.
