There are several posts here from people who are happy with their myomectomies but other than having to have them repeated, not many people have reported negative outcomes. Please feel free to send me private messages if you wish. I am 37 years old with 3 daughters. I started having 2 periods per month almost ten years ago - 2-3 days very heavy (superplus tampon every three hours) then totally stopped for a week and then a " regular " period 5-7 days fairly to very light. I also first noticed infertility about that time. After two years of various tests and six months of clomid I gave up and then got pregnant with my seven year old daughter. My doctor still seems convinced it was something he did although I was not on the clomid at the time. I now have a 12 week sized uterus that seems to be full of fibroids although I have not had an ultrasound or any other definitive diagnostic tests. Although I am happy with the family I have, I don't necessarily want to exclude the possibility of any future children. I'm also worried about the chances of uterine rupture after myomectomy if I do get pregnant because I've had three C-Sections. If anyone has an experience they would be willing to share with me I would love to hear from you. I'm getting to the point that I want to do something - mainly I'm getting tired of waking up every night, sometimes twice, just to visit the bathroom (my bladder is a little cramped). DeAnn, I had a c-section in 1986 w/ my youngest daughter. My first was born in 1976 and I didn't have fibroids (or they hadn't been noticed) at that time. Over the 10 year period, I developed some whoppers! My gyn warned me that I needed a hysterectomy. " If you were MY wife... " I refused because I wanted to have another child. He told me to hurry up and try, but that I'd probably never concieve or carry to term. Well, We proved him wrong! I got pregnant whenI decided to the 1st time out! The pregnancy was carefully monitored and they put me on partial bedrest the last 4 months. I continued to carry a full-load of classes, baby and fibroids without any complications. We were blessed with a healthy baby 9 1/2 months later. I never went into labor and the massive fibroids were blocking the birth canal, so they did a c-section/myo. The doc didn't attempt to remove the grandaddy fibroid, due to the vascular nature of the pregnant uterus. It was a very risky procedure to begin with, I found out later, because of the risk of hemmorhage. I carried that fibroid around for another THIRTEEN years until I decided to try UAE. It failed because of an ovarian artery supply. I then waited another year to do a 2nd myo. All the while my gyn, EDWARD SCISSORSHANDS, insisted that I needed an IMMEDIATE hyst. The tumor was 11 cm. when I decided to go to another doc for the myo and there was no sign of any others. I am completely happy with the results of the myo. My point is, you may not have ANY regrowth after a myo. I didn't. Each case is different, though. The weakened uterus issue is something to consider. The real moral of the story is, check out ALL options before doing anything drastic. " If you were MY wife... " Good luck, Kim ____________________________________________________________________ Get free email and a permanent address at http://www.netaddress.com/?N=
