Guest guest
I have seen some messages as of late regarding the shape of the head as subjectively perceived and its correlation to Chiari. Please be careful in attempting to conduct such an informal survey. The shape of the back of the head is not only a function of the skull but the neck muscularture as well. It's appearance to the naked eye in no way predicts the presence or absence of a Chiari malformation. There is a theory that Chiari is caused by the malformation of the back of the skull but it remains a theory. Studies that have attempted to investigate this theory have involved MRI and other imaging techniques. Even with these sophisticated techniques the theory has not be definitively substantiated. Net, the visual appearance of the shape of a person's head can not be used as a diagnostic predicter and only serves to generate needless worry. I understand the tendency to do this. I have wondered about it myself upon looking at my son but there really is no basis for it. Ray ACM1, 8mm, decompressed
