Guest guest
Yep -- I don't think gluten is really an issue for us, but am suspect of dairy and have it on my " list " of things to figure out. I think leaky gut and yeast are huge issues, as does the homeopathic physician we're working with. We've started some digestive enzymes recommended by this doc. I've signed on to an enzymesandautism list, but nobody knows much about the keto diet. Just wondering if the enzymes will change the way the diet is metabolized if there's anything I need to take into consideration. At their recommendation (and my own!), I'm moving VERY slowly. They do say that you can see some regression in the beginning and I think I'm starting to see the beginnings of that -- no seizures, but some behaviors that aren't very pleasant. Just wondering, Barb, if with reference to leaky gut, yeast and the keto diet -- if you or anyone else has thoughts on digestive enzymes. *** > True celiacs disease is probably not your > problem...this is usually > inherited....more then likely if your dealing with a > food sensitivity I > would first suspect leaky gut and yeast! > cya > Barb ===== DeEtte -- Mom to (, 6, keto-kid since 1/01, med-free, seizures greatly reduced) and (, 4), sdale, AZ " I know God would never give me more than I can handle. . .I just wish he didn't trust me so much. Guest guest
Enzymes are one part of the digestive process. HCL acid levels should also be checked. If a person eats each meal at the same time each day, the body will produce HCL acid and enzymes approximately 20 minutes before each meal time. If you are using digestive enzymes, you need to ensure that food is started before 20 minutes has elapsed. If you put enzymes into an empty stomach, it will continue the process on whatever is available...like the stomach. As this is a normal process that the body produces, and assuming that the digestive enzymes do not contain " added extras " , then this should not create major problems, even with the keto diet.
