Dear moderator,

APAC ( AIDS Prevention And Control ) Project, Chennai would be supporting 10

private labs/hospitals in selected districts of Tamilnadu & Pondicherry (who are

willing to provide counselling services for people undergoing HIV testing).

Rationale

The need for supporting private institutions with counseling services was:

People, who voluntarily wish to get themselves tested for HIV, prefer to go to a

private lab for the purpose of confidentiality.

The caseload in the government institutions is high.

But in the private set up pre & post test counseling is not being provided to the

clients

Hence APAC is looking out for private labs/private hospitals which has

Willingness to appoint a counselor for the lab to provide pre & post test

counseling Laboratory facilities for HIV testing including a trained lab

technician Good clientele ( performing at least 25 HIV tests per month)

This model has already been implemented in four private hospitals in Tamilnadu.

APAC hereby encourages private labs / hospitals with lab facility in

the following districts to apply for the above mentioned contract.

social work).

The counselors who are appointed in this project would be given 15 days of

training at Chennai, spread over a period of 3 months.

The counselor should work on a full time basis.

IEC materials required for counseling services would be sent from APAC Publicity

for the centre would be done through APACs partner NGOs who are working in that

zone.

The partner laboratoy / hospital is expected to provide the following:
