Guest guest
Maddy, Does it state in the letter in which part of the vaginal area it is swollen? I know someone that had a hymenectomy and she didn't do well afterward but everyone reacts differently to it. I would also recommend that you post a question about your situation to the following link: http://forums.obgyn.net/womens-health. You will have to register to write a message from the site. The registration and the service provided are free. The reason for the registration is b/c of the numbers of messages that are receieved over there but the drs there are wonderful and they volunteer their time. The info that they give is for educational purposes but I have found their input quite helpful to me in dealing with things that like the biopsies I went thru last year. I hope that all works out for you. ===== Kristy http://www.geocities.com/sokokl/kristyspersonalpage.html Hoping to be a nurse soon but for now just a Medical Secretary who does a lot of learning from reading on the Net, books, my dr(s), as well as sharing my own personal experiences. __________________________________________________
Guest guest
Maddy, Do you have red bumps that they say are hymenal remnants? That's what I have and the drs always say things like, " you don't want that touched " (operated on) and " it is healthy tissue " but it burns, is red and very uncomfortable. I never heard of the word hymenectomy and didn't know there was anything about it on the web. I'd like to hear more about what you find out about it. Also I have redness on the vulva but it doesn't hurt to touch etc. It's hard to tell exactly where the burn is coming from but I think it's all from those " bumps " so my taking Elavil probably isn't doing any good. Isn't it possible that you could have a hymenectomy and have permanent vulva pain such as DV. I am so confused of how to get rid of this problem on top of it burrowing yeast episodes. Guest guest
Kathy, You can learn more about hymenectomy by going to: http://forums.obgyn.net/womens-health and doing a search at that page. To use it for sending messages to the drs who freely volunteer their time you will need to register. It is free just like the service and only takes a minute to do.

Guest guest
Kathy: just inside the entrance there are pieces of tough tissue sort of ridges which I discovered are the hymenal remnants ie the bits of tissue left over f rom when a woman is de-virginised.I only found it when I investigated my pain and found a lot of it came from these bits.I looked on the net and using the search engine google.com found quite a lot about it under the word hymenectomy.Today I saw a vulva specialist and approached her with the idea. She said she would never do such an op and that the scar tissue could well be worse than the original pain.Im very disappointed as I read a lot on the net about women improving after it I live in England by the way.Yes I guess it is possible to get DV after having the op so it would take a really experienced doctor and one you could have a lot of confidence in before you would chance it.I believe theres such a doctor in Arizona but I cant remember his name at the moment.Ive just remembered its Gordon .Who said you have burrowing yeast.Have they actually found it?This condition is a lot to bear Kathy but dont give up hope of beating it ,itll keep you going.Im just coming off noritriptyline as it did nothing for my pain and gave me urine retention and I couldnt have an orgasm.NO WAY! Hope this helps Love Maddy

Guest guest
Maddy, I am a virgin to the fullest extent but I do have a broken hymen. It is not uncommon to hear of a woman who is still a virgin to have a broken hymen. I had one dr tell me one time that I was born without a hymen but in my case that wasn't true. My hymen didn't get broken until I had my first pelvic exam. The dr did it with a regular size speculum. At that time I don't think that we had the different size speculums like we do now. B/c of my hymen being broken my dr uses a regular size speculum on me. Just b/c the woman's hymen is broken doesn't mean that she is no longer a virgin. When you are no longer a virgin is when you have sex for the very first time. I had a girl on one of the other vulvodynia lists I'm on talk about a broken hymen and when I told her my story of how mine broke she said that that was an interesting way to lose virginity and then I had to tell her that I'm still a virgin even though my hymen is broken. Just wanted to share that with you.

Guest guest
Kristy;I spend a lot of my time in a sort of semi-depressed state-it makes me very, very tired.Today was different I felt good and my depression lifted and I flew through all my neglected housework.I had stacks of energy and it felt great! Many mornings my pain has abated and comes on later so whether that indicates anything I dont know.About three years ago id been a serial sufferer of BV and the other day I was tested and there it was again so Im taking a course of antibiotics.I just hope its an isolated case and not a sign of things to come.I used to get it almost every month at period time and it made my life a misery.Naturally I wonder did the persistant infection s have anything to do with the vestibulitis etc.Anyway if you have a good day it means you can have another .Right? How are you feeling? Guest guest
Maddy, I haven't been feeling all that well but the reason for that being the case is b/c I have other problems besides the vulvodynia. Also, I get a number of infections a lot and they are the result of my vulvodynia. Sometimes if I'm not careful I can make things worse with my levels of stress but I sure try not to do that. I do sometimes neglect the housework b/c of my health but I do try to make sure that I get it all done. Easier said than done sometimes. May tomorrow be a good one for you.
