Guest guest
Dear Tara: I just got home and read your post about Scandic Shake. We tried it with Calley. She did not like it orally, nor did she tolerate it in her g-tube. You can order Scandi Shake from your DME company or directly from Scandi Shake at 1-800-4-Scandi or the web-site http:/www.scandipharm.com. They sent us some recipes and information when we contacted them. We have Calley on Shaklee Meal Replacement Shakes, which have done wonders for her!! She has gained weight and is taking some of the shake orally, not just by the g-tube. The volume is much less, tastes good and has both calories and vitamins packed in. Her insurance and Medicaid are covering Shaklee since her doctor wrote a letter and script for them. (I included a copy of the doctors letter here at the end of the post.) (If you're interested in Shaklee, I have the brochures and info on that as well. I know of one patient who lived on this only through his g-tube for eight years and did very well.) We did a lot of comparison between Pediasure, Carnation instant breakfast, Scandi Shake and Shaklee. If you or anyone else on the list is interested in the information/comparison of all four please E-mail me and I'll mail it out to you. We have Vanilla Scandi Shake left over that we may be able send to you, as well as a sample of the Shaklee, just in case, if you'd like. Calley gained one pound in three weeks and grew and inch and a quarter. Her neurologist and nutritionist were very pleased! I've attached the meal schedule for Calley, for you to see what we are presently doing. Just send us your address! Best Wishes!
