I would presume it is unstable. You need to keep it in a quite acidic

solution to stabilize it against air oxidation.

I would like to know their testing methodology. It isn't clear to me

how to test for unoxidized versus oxidized DMSA by any methodology

most doc's and pharmacies are going to think to use, or be willing to

pay for.

My son is a patient of Dr. Holmes and the suspension that was tested

was the one from Prescription Compounds in Baton Rouge. Patsy

Angelle has a formula that is supposed to stay potent. I had my son

on a liquid dmsa from a local pharmacy that got the formula

( supposedly) from Prescription Compounds. After about 8 months on

this liquid, I heard about the controversy re: the liquid not being

stable and called a leading chemist/scientist ( Vas Aposhian) about

the stability of it. He has studied dmsa for years and has many

papers available about many aspects of the compound and its strengths

and weaknesses. He said that dmsa in water would lose it's potency

within a few days; and most any other liquid would probably do the

same thing. He asked if the smell of the liquid got stronger ( it

stinks to high heaven) over time , and that if it did it was probably

losing it's potentcy. I never had mine tested- I was so angry that

I had wasted so much precious time-- so I just went to mixing my own

capsules with liquid each time. Looking back through my notes after

the fact, I saw where my son was making progress while on the

suppositories , but when I changed to the liquid , he stalled out on

improvements. I immediately started seeing changes/improvements

again after starting the capsules-- so I know that the liquid we were

using was not stable. Many of my friends noticed the same thing and

when they changed back to capsules or suppositories, the children

responded. So... sorry for the long post, but I felt it was

important to tell what happened to us. Knowing what I know now, and

after speaking with Dr. Aposhian-- I would NEVER use a liquid again.

It's almost as easy to just mix each dose as you need it and never

have to worry about the potency issue.

Patsy Angelle wrote me also, telling me she had stabilizers in her

product and that tests showed it stayed at full potency-- and that

may be. But I am sticking with what I KNOW works!

Hope this helps and doesn't confuse the issue!!
