Guest guest
Dear Friends, This is with regard to the discussions on the strategies and priorities of NACP III. The tribal populations form an integral part of the population of our country. They are at a great risk of HIV Transmission due to poverty, illiteracy, cultural practices and exploitation both economic and physical. These factors make them vulnerable for infection whereas a very different and specific programme should be evolved to cover them in the HIV/AIDS prevention programme. These programs need to be less specefic as compared to Targeted Interventions as all the tribals may not be involved in High Risk Activities but at the same time more specific than a general IEC campaign. NGO's working among these groups can be involved to given them grants for tailor made awareness and behaviour change programmes. There is an urgent need to concentrate into this area before HIV prevelance increases among these tribals to an alarming rate.
