Guest guest
Good morning! I gave birth to a beautiful, healthy baby boy on Monday, February 4th (2 days before his EDD) at 4:37 am. His name is Barron and we're calling him Jack ( is dh's first name, so we want to call him something different). He is 7lbs. 3 oz, 19 1/2 inches long- just a bit more than my OB estimated a few weeks ago. My labor was unbearably long- 24 hours from start to finish. I dilated to 10 cm without too much difficulty (although I was already at 20 hours at that point). But a portion of my cervix was still constricted, which prevented the baby from moving further downward. (My OB had told me this could happen because I have two cervices- the 2nd can restrict the 1st during labor). Also when I got to 10 cm, my contractions started to taper off. They tried pitocin at two or three different times, but the baby didn't react well to it. Baby's heart rate was bouncing around and after 4 and 1/2 hours of pushing, they finally had to use forceps to deliver him. I had some internal, as well as external tearing. The OB that delivered me is still not absolutely sure if cervical tissue was involved or if I had a previously undiscovered vaginal septum that tore. (Too hard to see with all that was going on). She wants to take a better look at my 6- week check up. Can you believe after all this time and the many doctors I have been to that it's possible I have a vaginal septum I never knew about!? In spite of the difficult labor (I was convinced Jack was going to be an only child for the first few days), Jack and I are both fine. After 2 days you couldn't even see the bruises and marks on his head from the forceps. He is a sweetie and is consuming 150% of me right now- so forgive me for not being up on the posts. I did see that Tammy also had her baby...Congratulations on little Adam, Tammy. So glad that both of you are alright. Gretchen

It's the dearest name in the world to me) After hearing from other bicollis members of this list, yes, I do believe that they could have missed a vaginal septum. Whatever the case is, I hope you have a speedy recuperation and find that not only can you keep up with Jack's needs, but are able to get some sleep, too. Looking forward to seeing your son . . .
