Hints: How we got started!

Hi & Everyone:

During my permanent Afib days, and feeling pretty lousy day in and

day out, with no end in sight, I just had to locate a Support

Group. I thought for sure Duke Medical Center, Durham Regional

Hospital, UNC, ot Rex would have such a group. After many many phone

calls and inquiries, much to my surprise, there was none. At my

daughter's suggestion, I started one OnLine - which was the Topica

group. I think (and Bobby can correct me if I'm wrong), we had 120

members in the Topica group. Ronnie, one of our members suggested

some sort of a database to collect Afib information. Messages were

going back and forth from many members as to just how to accomplish

this; however, it could not be done on the Topica site. Bobby, our

computer wizard, came up with the egroups site and transferred all

120 members over to this new site - this was not an easy task!!

Shortly thereafter egroups was taken over by Yahoogroups. We also

were very fortunate to have a talented member/moderator in ,

who created a great database:

Now we had Bobby, and me as Moderators. - I think

sent an email to me about you - and thereafter you came aboard.

Sandy was a member and also my *Afib Buddy*. She lived only a few

miles from me, and occasionally we meet for brunch. I asked her to

join our Moderator group. Thereafter Walt joined us as a Moderator.

Bobby started the site on October 26th, 2000 - so we have a two year

Anniversary coming up and we now have 502 members......again, all I

can say is....WOW!

If I have left anybody or anything out, please feel free to jump

right in here.
