Melinda,

I knew from how I felt before my period started (bad PMS symptoms) that something hormonal was going on. Also, my periods are irregular and I had acne. Also, a lot of women on the list have hormonal imbalances and they also have VV or vulvodynia. I also read in Dr. Vliet’s book that suppressed ovarian function (Not enough estrogen, progesterone..) can lead to allergies and such. Well my vulvodynia has really gotten about 98% better with antihistamines. I thought maybe low ovarian hormone function could be contributing to my vulvodynia.

They really cant say what started my vulvodynia, but I have a suspicion. When i got vulvodynia I was at a point in my life when I was really stressed out, i had just started having sex, and I had just started a bcp really high in progestin, that it could have messed up my ovarian hormone production. Making me more susceptible to numerous vaginal infections and to allergies, hence I was left with vulvodynia. Anyways that’s just a theory. No one really knows why unfortunately.

Yes that price is for one visit. If you call them they will send you a packet of info that lists all the prices. They also give you some "tests" in the packet where you check your symptoms off to see if you might have hormonal issues. Im sure you could also talk with someone about your questions if you called.

I haven’t submitted the bill to my insurance company yet, but i will let you know what happens. I just got back, and have barely started treatment, but I do know I can’t tolerate any BCPs. i actually am going to talk to the tomorrow via a phone appointment about it as well as the results of my glucose intolerance test. And oh yes its official I am insulin resistant (she told me today when she scheduled my phone appt for tomorrow)! I guess I have to face up to the fact that I do have PCOS. I kept hoping that I didn’t...

Im really glad I went though. I would have never found out that I had PCOS. All my life I’ve struggled with acne and all these issues and now I know why. So hopefully i will be able to control this. Now more than ever Im going to have to watch my diet and exercise.

From here on in I have scheduled phone appointments. You have to go back once a year to keep getting prescriptions from them.

Btw, how old are you?

El & everyone.....

Thanks for sharing about Dr. Vliet and her book. I'm

going to the bookstore today to buy a copy of it. I'm

of the same thought as you...something hormonal is

involved. The first instance I can trace all of my

gynecological problems to is 4 1/2 years ago after my

miscarriage...at the same time as I miscarried I

stopped taking Desogen for birth control because I

found out I was pregnant! First time I'd ever been on

the pill.

I also have sever migraines...raging PMS....mood

imbalances...lower ab pain on the right

side...recurring bv and acne. I have been

contributing the acne to living in Florida/Arizona,

but now I'm not so sure. As a teen I rarely had it.

Now, I'm wondering if it's all part of this mix of

things.........

As such I'm in a position to change a few things in my

life. I'm thinking of returning to Phoenix so I can

have easier access to the specialist out west...Dr.

(I think is the one in Phoenix) and the clinics

in CA, AZ, & TX.

Thanks again!
