Guest guest
: I think you had said before that you didn't have gall stones, but rather gall bladder disease. That's what I had too! The theory is when I was pregnant with my son, he was sooo big (he weighed 9lbs 5 oz 3 weeks early) that he pressed upward on my gallbladder causing the tube at the bileduct to kink (like a water hose). My gallbladder filled with bile and stayed full for so long that the acid ate the lining of the gallbladder away causing ulcers. Eventually (sorry - I know this is gross) the back side of my gallbladder started to rot. When they took it out, my gallbladder had oozed and grown onto my liver and ribcage. They had to scrape all the parts clean. I still have a little pain there but nothing compared! I hope you get that problem repaired soon! You have my sympathy! Take care! Jerri > Carlasue, > Did they end up removing your gallbladder? Please do take care. Fats are very hard on the gallbladder but if your gallbladder is bad it won't really matter what you eat as anything can cause problems. I'm not trying to scare you but they really think it was my gallbladder that caused the damage to my bile duct before the gallbladder was removed in 98. I am now having recurring attacks of acute pancreatitis and have been in the hospital 8 times since July. I will most likely be having surgery on the bile duct in the very near future. They have sent me to a biliary surgeon but of course he wants one more ct scan before cutting me open. > > Please do take care. > > W > Re: Weight Loss Journey > > > Im right there with you Jerri, has been a battle for many years from my thyroid, and love of mexican food lol, now after hospital stay for bad gall bladder and high liver enzymes, I am taking the fatty food issure very seriously, I want to keep those organs I may need them later. I just hate execising and wish I had someone to do it with me that would help, I know even twenty to thirty minutes a day on a treadmill will make a big difference. Take care and good luck and feel free to cry on my shoulder if having a krispy kreme attack lol. > Take care > Carlasue >
Guest guest
Jerri, No, actually, I did have gallstones back in 98 when my gallbladder was removed. Also, the HIDA scan showed my gallbladder was only functioning at 13% of normal. Pay close attention to your episodes of pain and if they get severe, go to the ER as it could be acute pancreatitis. It sounds like you were lucky to have survived your experience with a bad gallbladder! Guest guest
Jerri, this is really bazaar! I am a fair skinnned red head as well! Please do not ignore your elevated liver enzymes. Exercise! Please! What in the heck does exercise have to do with elevated liver enzymes? With your history of the gallbladder and bile duct problems you could be headed for the same road I am on! I'm not trying to scare you but I don't think elevated liver enzymes should be ignored. Since the bile duct was kinked when you had the problems before, there could be some blockage in the bile duct now causing the bile to back up and irritate the liver. I would recommend you see a gastroenterologist who is experienced with pancreas/liver issues and has experience with ERCP. (it's where they go down your throat and look at the pancreas and bile ducts) My doctors are pretty sure something is going on with my bile duct and that is what is causing the acute pancreatitis and elevated liver enzymes. Take care, W Re: Weight Loss Journey Carlasue - Thanks for your post. I'm trying so hard but Iget soooo frustrated. I need a magic wand! I lost my gall bladder in '95 and I have terrible liver panels too. It's way past time for me to get serious, but i guess better late than never. And I get so mad sometimes, people say well just exercise more. I just want to scream, I have enough pain just moving in general from the pain. I think I would have probably smacked someone by now, but it would hurt too much to chase them! ;o) BTW - from another of your post, I have red hair and fair skin too! Where do you live? I wish we all lived in the same area. Like Lupieland or something. Anyway, I would love for us to keep in touch - kinda weight loss buddies or something if you would like. Guest guest
I'm sorry, I must have confused your story with someone else. Still trying to learn everyone. I had an ultrasound on my liver and pncreas earlier this year for pain. They said they really couldn't see the pancreas too well for whatever reason. Go figure. But **laughing** she did tell me that my gall bladder was enlarged! Ya know, the one I had removed 7 years ago. I reminded the technician that I DIDN'T HAVE A GALLBLADDER. She said, " Well, I'm looking right at it. Maybe they took out the wring thing! " The doctor was very upset and dismissed the technician from the room - swiftly. He had me roll over and then back to that side again. As it turns out, it was a piece of poopy and bowel gas!! *ROFL* So if you ever wanted to know, " pooty gas " looks like a gallbladder!! ;o) Have a great day!! Guest guest
This is weird!! Have y'all read the " new " info that red heads suffer from and are more sensitive to pain and we also need additional anesthesia to prevent us from feeling or waking from surgery - including dental surgery. Pretty strange. We always knew we were special *wink*, but this is just strange!! Okay, doc says liver enzymes are raised due to lipid levels (cholesterol, triglycerides, etc.) Since I have been on Pravachol, my ALT has come down from 94 to 33 which is pretty good. My cholesterol has come from 318 to 172 - which is really good. However, my " good cholesterol " is lowered from 56 to 34. They want it to be around 100 and total below 200. Exercise raises the " good " cholesterol! That's how it will eventually help my liver panels. I've never had the tube down the throat - only the other direction! eeewwwwww I also have Chronic Urticaria. For this I have been having to take Cyclosporin - the immunosuppresive drug transplant patients use. It's really hard on your liver. I'm oof of it right now - thank God! Terrible stuff!! Great for arthritis though! No aches and pains while on it. That part was wonderful, but not worth it! Jerri > Jerri, > this is really bazaar! I am a fair skinnned red head as well! Guest guest
Carla Sue, Sounds like you found a good doctor. Glad to know they are keeping an eye on it. Let me know how things progress. Take care, W Re: Weight Loss Journey Hi , No they did not remove it they said they want to keep an eye on it, it is not expelling fast enough it is too slow but they said there are no stones or blockages, but my family doctor who saw me there and who has now become my new family doctor (BECAUSE HE WAS SO NICE TO ME IN HOSPITLAL AND WILL TAKE MY LUPUS SERIOUSLY)and a little bit because he looks like morgan freeman : -) I always think morgan freeman looks like an honest nice person. Anyways they may remove it later because it is sick and not working correctly but my new family doctor said it is best to have them removed when they are not enflamed or fluid around the outside of it, and when I dont have the fever anymore, so all of that is better and they let me go home and the gastro doctor I will see and we will talk about the gall bladder ofptions. I sure dont want to wait until I get more serious problems like you did thank you for sharing with me. Guest guest
Okay - now I understand how exercise could help the liver enzymes. My triglycerides and cholesterol were high (600 and 250) before the weight loss surgery and weight loss, but are great now. My liver enzymes were normal until around March of this year. They were only slightly elevated when I had labs done in March, April, and early July. They started getting really high after the acute panc attack in mid July. The last time I was in the hospital, the ALT and AST were both over 600. W Re: Weight Loss Journey This is weird!!
