Guest guest
Irene, Did you have Strep B? I had high Strep B also and was given antibiotics. I did do a lot of research on the internet and my doctors didn't like that either...well I think it helps a lot and at least you can ask intelligent questions. It seems that Strep B resides in the bowel and in the vagina and is mainly a problem for newborn babies during delivery. It may always show up on testing. I think the antibiotics did more harm than good and I still had the Strep B. Keep reading here...you'll get a lot of good information. You do need a doctor who is willing to work with you though. I hope you find someone, even though they really don't know how to solve the problem. I ask my doctor for prescriptions to things that have helped others here. Have they checked for atrophy? Actually, several doctors said that I didn't have atrophy and then I had to go to a woman urologist for extremely frequent urination and she said my atrophy was severe and prescribed topical Estrace, which did make an improvement, although not a cure. Try sea salt baths with a LOT of good sea salt, might give some relief. I put plain yogurt on during my morning shower. Ice packs are great for instant relief. A Physical Therapist that specializes in Women's Health and can give internal massage. You can call the APTA, American Physical Therapy Association, to try to find one in your area. Just keep up hope and keep trying things that are mentioned from this group. I don't really know my diagnosis and that's why I didn't post it. My gyn said vulvodynia. He sent me to specialist who is dermatologist. She said lichen planus although she didn't see active signs of it. She is not wanting to do a biopsy. She now says I have strep on culture and wants me to take clindamycin and diflucan to prevent yeast. My gyn said he didn't normally treat strep. Some gyn on another board is adament that strep doesn't cause infection, says it only colonizes. I told the derm this and she said that wasn't current info. I can't find anything that supports her claim though. So basically I am just hanging out and doing nothing. I don't trust the derm. and don't know any other doctors to see for this in my area. I can't find a local support group. This derm did not like me getting on the internet and researching this problem. She also likes to tell me that it won't kill me but it will depress me. And that's the good news? LOL Apparently she thinks I am over-reacting because I find this stressful. Doctors don't know what causes these problems and treatment is experimental. And that is not enough to cause stress? I've got to have support from somewhere and I can't exactly go up to people in the grocery store and ask if they have this problem and would like to get together. Why can't doctors understand how it affects our lives?
Guest guest
Hi Irene, I'm new to this site, but am desperate for some help since I've been dealing with a very uncomfortable situation for some time now. I haven't had any problems in the vaginal/bladder area for many years and about 6 weeks ago I felt the need to urinate quite frequently (and I haven't been sexually active in about 7 months). I figured I could have gotten a bladder infection from my tampons or something and when I went to the OBGYN, he said it was yeast and that's what was probably causing that need to urinate. So I went on Diflucan and 7 days of Terazol which on the 4th day started burning me to death. I go back to the OBGYN after that experience and then he tells me I have a bacterial infection and puts me on 2 days of Flagyl and 5 days of Metrogel. Well, that almost killed me (burning wise), but I figured it was doing the job so I finished it. Then after all that was over, I couldn't even sit for a week. I was so raw it was awful. But I still felt the urge to urinate all the time. Then I went to the Urologist and they said there was no infection, but my urethra was probably short so I should get a cystoscopy and dilation. So I do this (thinking this is the problem) and then things just got worse. Now I'm feeling the need to urinate all the time, but they don't think it's coming from my bladder, the doctors say the Vagina is still off PH wise and very acidic. I even went on 5 days of CIPRO in the event it was a low grade infection, but didn't have that much improvement on it (so I guess it really isn't a UTI). So my question to you is, do you know of a lot of people who can have that need to urinate (even right after I urinate) just from an inflamed vaginitis? I know it makes sense because the bladder/urethra are right next to the Vaginal wall, but I've never experienced something like this. Could it just take a while for the vaginal walls to come back to a normal PH and the burning is what's causing that need to urinate a lot? Any help would be much appreciated!! I've tried everything and now the doctor wants me to do a baking soda douche. I tried it once, but it didn't help much. Please write me back at MARIA_TESS@... Thank you sooooo much!!! but I begged for an antibiotic and was on CIPRO for 5 days. By the fifth day I thought I > Irene, > > Did you have Strep B? I had high Strep B also and was given antibiotics. Guest guest
I think this message is about my post- it's (lren29) but I can see how it looks like Irene. I have never felt urgency to urinate with vaginitis. Actually I was not having any symptoms of vaginitis when the dr told me my culture showed strep and inflammation. I have vulvar burning but she wrote a letter to my gyn and said she didn't think treating the strep would improve my symptoms. It didn't. If the urine is actually burning the tissues, you can try squirting warm water over you as you urinate. That helps some but as far a urgency, I wouldn't think that it would be from vaginal inflammation or vaginitis. Keep us posted. I know how frustrating it is not to get answers or relief from the doctors. > Hi Irene, > I'm new to this site, but am desperate for some help since I've been > dealing with a very uncomfortable situation for some time now. > > I haven't had any problems in the vaginal/bladder area for many years > and about 6 weeks ago I felt the need to urinate quite frequently (and > I haven't been sexually active in about 7 months).
