Hello

I am in the process of having blood test after blood test done

on my son who seems to have regressed a great deal lately.

1)His uric acid is " low " .

What does that mean? What are the causes etc.?

2)His triglicerides are also low but his cholesterol is high.

He is a tall child 5'0 " weighs about 90 lbs. He is ten.

So he is not overweight.

I just don't get it.

3) We also tested him for B12 and Folate deficiencies and

the results indicate that they are both very high.

I am not giving him any extra B12. He is getting 50mg a day in his B complex

and same for Folic acid.

Why is it then high?

If anyone has any insight on any of these issues , I sure would like to

be enlightened.

Thanks ,

I

If that's the same as uridine ,Bill Walsh said it can indicate a respiratory

change. When uridine is deficient one of the detox pathways is screwed up

low urate + low triglycerides may mean he isn't absorbing protein or

fats.

High cholesterol might mean his liver is making a lot of that to try

to help him make more hormones - cholesterol is the starting material

for adrenal and sex steroids.

Also high cholesterol might mean it wasn't a fasting test. You're

supposed to have no food for 12 hours before the blood is drawn or the

cholesterol doesn't mean much.

The RDA of B-12 is 6 mcg. Folic acid is 400 mcg. The test is normed

for people eating an RDA.

Hi ,

Low levels of uric acid in the blood are seen much less commonly than high

levels and are seldom considered cause for concern - reference to this fact are

all over the interet.

Although low values can be associated with some kinds of liver or kidney

diseases, exposure to toxic compounds, and rarely as the result of an inherited

metabolic defect, these conditions are typically identified by other tests and

symptoms and not by an isolated low uric acid result.

Reference to this fact are all over the interet.
