Guest guest
A friend just sent this to me - any thoughts?? She has been tested for food allergies and all came back negative. " When I eat ANYthing acidic or dehydrating (every single kind of fruit derivative, tomatotes, wine, vinegar, coffee, tea, green tea, any salt, etc.) in any amount, within an hour or two my skin feels very dry, my eyes burn (dry) extremely bad, my mouth/tongue burn, and I get extremely thirsty. The more acidic foods, such as tomatoes, vinegar and citrus fruit cause more severe symptoms. After a while, if I eat acids esp. citrus over a couple days, my lungs will feel like they are burning and I will get bronchitis and cough, gastritis, joint pain, and muscle cramping, fatique, etc. " -- Ortiz, MS, RD *The FRUGAL Dietitian* <http://www.thefrugaldietitian.com> Check out my blog: mixture of deals and nutrition Groupon: $2 for Five Movie Rentals from Blockbuster Express: Starts 12:01 2/19 <http://thefrugaldietitian.com/?p=15059>February: Heart Health Month The Frugal Dietitian Giveaway enter by 2/21 NOON<http://thefrugaldietitian.com/?p=15004> *Healthy Diet at any Age: We are NOT just looking * *at the years people have behind them but also the * *quality of the years ahead of them.*
Guest guest
acidic and diuretic diets will increase magnesium loss. I love my coffee and I learned the hard way about acid/alkalinity balance and good hydration. I add a smidge of baking soda to my cup of coffee to buffer the acidity. I checked with pH strips and the amount I use took 4.5 pH coffee up to 6.5 and the oops that was a bit much was 8 and a little oddly not like coffee. (poke handle of spoon into baking soda box and the dust on the end works - not even an 1/8th of a tsp. Too little magnesim and the cells can't hang onto fluid - the sparkle leaves the eye. I finally pin pointed what I see when I 'observe' physical signs of magnesium deficiency. Hydration of the mucous membranes is also evident as a moist eye with a twinkle- I was sad to see an add for Boniva recently with Sally looking looked pale and drained and lifeless eyes.
