Guest guest
Dear Elise My Dr. has me on the same protocol as of now. Lo Ovral and watch and wait. I have multiple fibroids the largest is submucosal and 2cm. I just had my period which lasted six days and was alittle less heavy. The clotting was greatly reduced. I also will make an appointment in a couple of months to have another sonogram and see if they have grown. Does your Dr. say that the pill makes the fibroid grow bigger while controlling the bleeding? I'm still a bit confused about this treatment. Good Luck. Anita Misery loves company > Good morning. Guest guest
Anita i have been on Lo/Ovral since December for bleeding along with Lupron at same time. My fibroid has grown 2 cm since december. I believe the birth control just stops or slows the bleeding but contibutes hormones to the fibroid which they need to grow. Some others in the group have been on other medications maybe their medications controlled the growth better. This is my second time with fibroids and the first time I was on Lupron without birth control and the fibroid did shrink slightly and the bleeding stopped. The only bad part about Lupron is side effects and it is limited to 3 to 6 months then you must have some type of treatment since they will grow rapidly once you go off the Lupron so as this is what I am told. Hope this helps Patty

Guest guest
Anita- My doctor has told me that some women experience shrinking of the fibroids while on the pill while others find they stay the same size, and others find they grow. I also wondered that if the estrogen in the pill would make them grow... I am on a low estrogen birth control pill called Alese. I started in August. It took 3 months for my body to adjust. It's funny and silly of me, but whenever I get those chain letters from friends in emails to make a wish and it will come true if you send it to a certain amount of people, i have been wishing my fibroids away! If your bleeding has not stopped or improved the Bone loss is not worth the continuing of the drug. I may be concerned about bone loss more than most because this is my second time on the drug. The first time I was on for 7 months and this time 3 months. It did control my bleeding and control the fibroid growth the first time I put on Lupron. The second time it did not work at all probably because of the birth control I was taking at the same time. I was suppose to get a third shot but decided not to since I was not having any results from them. I am also not taking my birth control and am waiting on a date to have UAE. My bleeding continues on or off the medicine. My doctor told me yesterday that going off the birth control was not all bad since there is more concern of blood clots during the UAE procedure while on birth control. I always write too much, Just can't help it. Patty
