" Parents Assisting and Lending Support " P.A.L.S was created through the joint efforts of UM-NSU CARD and family members of individuals with autism or other related disorders. These family members possess extensive experience navigating the broad spectrum of resources available in the local geographic area. They also recognize the great benefits that can be achieved when parents are able to share experiences and ideas, both one to one and in group settings. The purpose of P.A.L.S. is to provide individualized assistance to families and to serve as a connection to the local autism community. There is no charge for P.A.L.S. services. P.A.L.S members work directly with UM-NSU CARD clinicians to support families. These family members have undergone extensive training and continue on-going education in order to be well informed and aware of current available resources. How to Access P.A.L.S.? After each family has completed a CARD intake, a CARD clinician is designated. Families may request to speak with a P.A.L.S. family member through their CARD clinician or they may e-mail P.A.L.S. directly at: miamicardpals@... Meetings will be held monthly, Thursdays 9:30 AM -11:00 AM at the UM/NSU CARD Center, 5665 Ponce de Leon Blvd., Second Floor, Coral Gables, FL 33146. Estos familiares poseen experiencia extensa navegando el amplio espectro de recursos disponible en el area geografico local. Ellos tambien reconocen los grandes beneficios que se pueden lograr cuando los padres comparten sus experiencias e ideas individualmente y en grupos. El proposito de P.A.L.S. es proveer asistenica individual a familiares y servir como coneccion a la communidad de autistas y otros desordenes relacionados. Los miembros de P.A.L.S. trabajan directamente con clinicos de UM-NSU CARD para apoyar familias. Estos miembros de familia han pasado por un entrenamiento extenso y continuan educandose para estar bien informados y concientes de los recursos disposibles. Como acceder a P.A.L.S.? Despues que cada familia ha terminado su consulta en CARD, se le designa un clinico de CARD. La familia puede pedir hablar con un miembro de P.A.L.S. por medio de su clinico de CARD o pueden enviar un correo electronico a P.A.L.S. directamente a: miamicardpals@....
