Guest guest
It's 11:10 p.m. so I hope this makes sense. I have psoriasis too and often wondered if there was a connection. I've had the psoriasis for a lot longer and I had several UTI before getting VV. I also have I.C. along with migraines, Fibro (especially the fog part), IBS, among others. I take Detrol for my I.C. I used to get up 5-6 times a night before and now it's 2 or 3. Have you tried Pyridium ? (not sure of spelling or drug name) that can sometimes take away pain. Hope this helps, Sue P.S. Sometimes it seem to hurt more to go to the bathroom when it's more concentrated so even though this doesn't make sense, drink more water and than stop after 6:00 p.m.
Guest guest
Hi Jill, The very same thing happened to me about 2 weeks ago...thought for sure I had a UTI..burning & frequency. They started me on macrobid since I have a long history of UTI's, then called to tell me to stop because the UA was negative. It happens to me now and then..sometimes its a real UTI, and sometimes it just lasts a day or so.

Guest guest
Are any of you ladies with those bladder symptoms taking any other meds, like over the counter stuff? Whenever I take anything containing guaifenesin I get the same symptoms. A couple of times it has progressed to a bladder infection but not always. Ora >Ugh. Toby, you make an excellent point about possible interstitial >cystitis (I hadn't thought of that), although I sure hope that's not >the case. I am definitely going to bring up all thse bladder >symptoms at my doc. appt. next week because it sounds like more than >vv alone. > >Jill > > >> > Hi Jill, >> > The very same thing happened to me about 2 weeks ago...thought >for >> sure I had >> > a UTI..burning & frequency. From having urethral symptoms and on/off bladder pressure I have learned quite a bit about urine cultures. A culture is done when you have a suspected UTI. What is needed to confirm a UTI is a colony count of not less than 100,000 colonies of bacteria. They then identify that bacteria and find the best antibiotic for it. If you have anything less than 100,000 count..they say you don't have a UTI. They will call it contamination. They think that the e. coli or other bacteria comes from the anal area or vagina and is not a true infection. To avoid this you can have a catheter sample done. ANY bacteria..even 1 or 2 in a catheter sample should be considered infection since urine should be sterile. This whold colony count thing stinks...I have had a low colony count of 5,000 to 10,000 since I had a FULL ON UTI in January. To me this means that the infection has not been fully cleared up. I have symptoms daily. I even had a catheter sample show 1,000 count. NOw...because it does not fall into guidelines of 100,000...I can't get help. My MD won't do anything nor will the urologist..even with a catheter sample showing bacteria. They were not trained to treat anything less than 100,000. I think for women with pelvic pain (vulva pain, vestibule pain) that we are already at a heightened sensitivity so even a small colony of 1,000 can cause us symptoms where other women can walk around and never know they have it. No one will listen! Anyway...you may have a low count chronic infection that needs cleared up just like I do. Something you can ask for that is supposed to help is called: Urised. It is an antiseptic to the bladder and many women improve using it for their low grade infections. I asked my MD and he won't ..he said " see the urologist " and since all he wants to do is dilate my urethra...FORGET IT!! All makes me sick!! Guest guest
Good luck at your urology appt. . Let us know what you find out. Your symptoms sound really a lot like mine. I haven't been dx with interstitial cystitis (yet!) but I really have only been to the doc for these problems since it started over the last 8-9 mos. and that was when he dx the vv and the cystocele. I didn't really make him aware of all the bladder symptoms then but I have another appt. next week. As I sit here and type this, I have an aching in my bladder that feels so much like menstrual cramps (but I have not resumed periods yet because I am breastfeeding and I know it's not that, it's the bladder).
