Funny, I was going to ask the same question. On the Great Smokies stool test, my son tested 2+ for Citrobacter, and the test showed it would be sensitive to Uva Ursi and Plant Tannins. Well, we'd tried Plant Tannins for another bacteria months ago, and it tastes absolutely horrible! It wouldn't mix in anything. I tasted some myself, and it was so strong tasting that 8 hours later I still felt a slight burning taste in my mouth. I guess it might work if a child took a capsule. As far as Uva Ursi, my son has also been on that in the past. The type I have used is easy to get down, comes in some sort of a berry flavored tincture. I was told to give 10 drops 3x per day for 2 weeks, stop two weeks, then repeat. But the Uva Ursi seemed to do something strange to my son. Toward the end of the two week round and for about 10 days afterward, my son was acting really, really wierd. For instance, he bumped into a piano and screamed in rage " That boy (pointing to a child innocently playing on the other side of the room) pushed me into the piano and wanted to hurt me! " This type of behaviour is not normal for my son. I don't know if it was some kind of delayed die-off or not, but since it lasted so long after the doses and started so late in the round, I felt it was more likely due to some longterm use of the Uva Ursi itself. Also, I've heard (don't know if this is true or not) that Uva Ursi may be too harsh to be used on children. This was something I heard after having used it, but since I was already leary of it by that time, I decided to stop just in case. So if there are other choices out there, I'd love to hear them too. My son is on 4 capsule ProCulture Gold and colostrum daily. Has helped with other stuff but I think is not helping the citrobacter. Guest guest
Hey folks. Does anyone know of a nonprescription remedy for citrobacter? I currently give my son GSE + NoFenol daily, garlic & cranberry extract alterately and I plan to start the Ojibwa Tea soon. I think the Citrobacter (or some other bad bacteria) has set up residence (despite plenty of probiotics). Thanks.

I have never been able to use probiotics because my kids never tolerated them, but I discovered that GSE plus No-Fenol did such a great job eliminating the yeast, that my kids developed bad bacteria. I have NO idea what variety of bacteria it was. Anyway I tried probiotics again, with enzymes, and now after 25 rounds of chelation they can tolerate probiotics! I have heard good things about Culturelle, so if you are not using that specific probiotic, you can consider trying it. I am using Solaray Multidophilus from my health food store, and I have discovered that it works very well. I reduced the GSE [i am still experimenting with dosage, will report my results in a few weeks with my round 25-30 update], but this probiotic has resulted in no bacteria for my kids. I hope that helps. Dana

Guest guest
Dana, I've found that Biocidin along with anti-yeast supplements works well to help with bacteria issues. ________________________________________________________________ GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO! Guest guest
-- How much Biocidin do you use? We use it too, one drop with each meal (my son weighs about 35 pounds). Is that enough or do you use more? Thanks. > Dana, > > I've found that Biocidin along with anti-yeast supplements works well to > help with bacteria issues. > > > > ________________________________________________________________ > GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO! > Juno offers FREE or PREMIUM Internet access for less! > Join Juno today! Guest guest
My son weighs about 44 pounds and I give him 2 drops before bed. I'm doing this along with S. Boulardii (sp?) only for two weeks, in between two week cycles of Diflucan. ________________________________________________________________ GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO!
