Guest guest
If we all know where everyone stands on these issues, then why tell us yours? I disagree with just letting president's families' spend tax dollars for vacations, etc. any way they choose. But then, you already knew my stance on this, so why are you reading it? W. We all know where everyone stands by now on social/political issues. Let's remember that smoking and drinking and drugs are all addictions.... and they are very hard to beat. Sure, people should not have started in the first place, but I'm guessing a lot of time life is stressful and perhaps they turn to something like that. We can't even agree to provide the poor food and healthcare, let alone rehab/mental health services. Also, the first lady and her children didn't run for political office. There is no justification to begrudge them their vacation trips, no matter where they are going. They would have had travel and security paid by us irregardless and rightfully so. I'm sure a trip to Spain is a wonderful educational opportunity for her children to see how other people live. Just because other presidents chose to go to Camp or their ranch, it shouldn't matter, period. Family should be off limits. They paid their way for everything else. Mandatory drug testing. Is it REALLY worth it? Think about the money spent to pay for the tests and to hire people (OH NO, more government workers) to administer and process this testing and follow up on the whole thing. Talk about bureaucracy!! Sure, the government says they are only looking for drugs, but imagine what else they can glean from one's urine? Can we be absolutely sure they are only testing for drugs? And if the food stamp dollars get parents that are using drugs, food for their children rather than starving, then I'm okay with that....
