Antibiotics Affects??

I know I saw a discussion on antibiotics affects on a-fib, but I

cannot locate it.

So, I am asking again.

Dofetilide pamphlet says to notify Dr if severe diarrhea occurs.

I've been on augmentin with severe diarrhea, but no other problems,

for a week.

Started with shortness of breath first of the week, but chalked that

up to overeating and being out of shape.

Today, along with bad shortness of breath, I've had PACs, increased

heartrate to 84 (normally 64), and a couple of episodes of heart

racing for about 10 seconds to point I could not feel a pulse in

wrist and then it kicks back into normal beating. But, when I listen

to heart with stethoscope, it is beating normally, just faster.

So, I'm stopping the augmentin.

Anyone else have trouble with antibiotics? HOW?

Also, anyone have a colonoscopy procedure since having a-fib and

being on meds for it? I'm wondering how the Fleet laxative might

affect the a-fib??? I know I have to stop the coumadin, so don't want

medicine to cause a-fib and have to rush to ER for heparin IV.

Thanks if anyone can help.

Cheryl, I had trouble with Cipro causing 2-3 days of multiple PVCs a

minute. I was on augmentin for a month(!) with no heart trouble. I

wonder if the diarrhea itself is causing your heart symptoms, as

digestive systm upsets are a big trigger for some people, including

me.

Cheryl-

Antibiotics _Zythromax reacted with coumadin and caused major problems.

(Emergency room for internal bleeding)

Cardio inisists on no antibiotics without almost daily PT monitoring.

PS: The Zythromax did kill just about every other bug I had.
