Guest guest
I'm really searching for answers. My daughter has not been well for about a month. In hospital month ago with BUN of 33, no diarrhea, vomiting, etc prior to admission, just very fussy and low grade fever. On IV fluids then for 4 days, DC/D with BUN of 11. DId OK for a few weeks, then got real fussy again, BUN rechecked and it was 21, increased fluids by adding 290 cc pedialyte to 31 oz of pediasure per day. BUN was rechecked for 3 days and just bounced around from 19 to 21 again. Yesterday got real fussy again, I checked her ketones and right after feeding she was spilling mod amt, I checked blood sugar and it was 80. Local MD thought she might be in SIADH, so we did UA today and spec. gravity was 1.025, with trace acetone. So, now no one knows what to do with her. Something is not right, she has me so worried, local md wants me to just watch her over weekend and call if she gets worse. The other thing is she is very hyper, moving all the time, almost hysterical. She is nonverbal, nonambulatory with profound MR, so she is no help. Andy ideas from anyone????? I'm desperate and no MD around here knows what to do. Also the other nite after 21 oz of pediasure and 130 cc pedialyte over nite ending at 0700, I drew her blood at 0715 and her sugar was 69. She looks hydrated, sweating, drooling, wet diapers. I know I have rambled, I apologize, you guys are my only hope.
