Just to add a little to the employment end of things.  I am wondering what ADA

is doing and what we can do to distinguish ourselves from people out there who

are doing these distance learning programs in holistic nutrition and earning

some sort of registration or license that way. Not sure what it is?? In my

home state we have many. 

We have lobbied so hard, for so many years in my home state for a license and

have never been awarded it. I have been told that it is due to the heavy

lobbying power of Chiropractors and probably now, these holistic nutritionists,

that we have been denied licensing.

Most nurses do not have master's degrees. They have state licensing in every

state.  They are well payed and highly regarded.  I really do think

an RD license in every state would help us tremendously!

I have seen people who come in after a visit with a holistic nutritionist

and were taking herbs that put them into the ER because their BP goes through

the roof.

They are never held accountable for these things that happen, because there are

no license laws to protect people.

I am involved in my local chapter of our state dietetics association, where they

are still pushing for state license for RD's , but the meetings etc. are very

far from my home and hard to attend.
