Guest guest
My husband saw a Naturopathic Dr. last year before the PSC was dx and he said that he did not think that caffiene was good for the liver because it "excited" it????? It made it hard for it to do its normal functions. My husband seems as though he drinks more of it now (coffee) than before in the place of a beer and other social drinks. Elesa athan wrote: > "McClain, " wrote: > > All, > > Is caffeine bad for or hard on the liver ? It is processed by the liver, so it may give the liver more work to do but I don't know of any other specific problem it causes. I have had problems with caffiene staying in my system for a long time (several days without much sleep) due to the fact that it takes longer for my liver to remove it from my system. I don't use it intentionally any more, 'cause I like to be able to sleep! athan
Guest guest
In the reading I have done it seems that anything that is work for the liver to process is hard on it. I would say definitely stay on the moderate side if at all. ________________________________________________________________ GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO! Guest guest
ok guys, sounds like you all are telling folks like me, to throw away the coffee. I understand that caffeine is bad for you in many ways, but us diabetics surely do miss out on so much. can't we at least keep our beloved coffee with caffeine? some thing is wrong with decaff coffee. maybe it is because it doesn't have a kick. when I get to wanting to eat some thing that I shouldn't have, I just make a pot of black coffee and it helps to not eat the bad thing. of course I suppose I am going bad with the caffeine, so why not eat the bad thing? give up my coffee? what is left after I give up my life long friend? coffee with caffeine, we have got along for so many years to gather. surely you all are just joking? just pulling my leg? I do enjoy water and drink at least one gallon per day, if not more, but give up coffee! I all ready gave up the white milk about three years ago and never did really drink much tea, finally got to where I can drink decaff, diet, pop now, but not to much, and butter milk is only a small treat now and then. no more then two, low carb beers at one time and now you say to give up my coffee. now I do know that I drink way to much coffee per day. probably a whole pot a day by my self. at least. I suppose you guys want me to drink nothing but water all day and all night? how exciting this sounds to me. plain water and more plain water. how sad can it get? breakfast with out hot, black, coffee, going to the lake and sitting by a big fire and have no coffee, need a pick me up, no coffee, get tired of plain water, need a change, no coffee, well well! guess I really need to do some serious thinking about this. diabetes is taking away all the good tasting things in life. maybe this is a good thing though, if you can't enjoy eating any more, then no way to over eat. pretty soon, eating becomes like taking out the trash or cleaning the john. just some thing you have to do. no since in looking forward to a meal again. eat a bowled egg and be on your way. I heard that winging your self off caffeine, can be like stop drinking? this sure doesn't sound like fun. but I know what is going to say. it is for your own good, if you wish to live for a few more years. do all that you can do for your self and hope for the best. can't we keep at least one vice? I pick coffee for my one vice. I guess coffee and doughnuts are out of the question? have water and a stalk of celery instead? and here I sit, reading all this bad news about caffeine and I am drinking a cup of coffee, with caffeine. I know, learn to live with out it and you will feel so much better. ok, I will start giving up the coffee, the middle of next month. probably will start chewing my finger nails and pulling my hair out. sounds like my wife might divorce me pretty soon, cause I am going to get hard to live with. thanks to all you fine folks, for telling all these white lies about wonderful coffee with caffeine. please don't take me serious, the gentlemen pig Re: caffeine > > > Good Morning , > Do you have any thoughts on tea? > BTW, I drink the coffee for the caffeine alone and actually do not care > for the taste at all. > You sure seem to have bounce to the ounce. Guest guest
Some vices are worth keeping. I don't think any of us are going to get out of this world alive. Guest guest
Dear Mark, By golly we are birds of a feather! No way do I plan to give up coffee. However, having said that, I am going to be a bit more careful about going over board. When your heart starts pounding, well that is down right silly. I tell that to myself. Guest guest
Also, the phosphates in sodas are really bad for anyone with kidney problems. Re: caffeine it really just puts a large strain on the kidneys to filter out the pollutants in pop/tea/coffee and water just doesn't do that *grin* Regards, Re: caffeine > > > Lol! Oh my . Guest guest
Balance is always the key word. If one is likely to jump off the Brooklyn Bridge for lack of coffee, then, please keep drinking coffee. I drink the half and half stuff btw. I don't suffer any side affects from caffeine that I am aware of. Guest guest
Shane, You echo everything I go through many times throughout my life. I am a compulsive overeater and even having the surgery you spoke of, isn't a remedy. I don't know what is anymore. Guest guest
Rita, my dad had a stroke is died a year and a half later and then in 99 mom had ultzheimers. I've stopped twice before. The first time was a piece of cake but the last time, it was tough. Those headaches are worse than hang over headaches. Thanks again. Guest guest
Dear Mona, I am sorry to hear about your dad. Headaches is one of the many things I do not have. Lucky I guess. How are you feeling now? I am an over eater too. I use food for recreation. Not a healthy thing to do.
