Agreed Mick about crazy making when I hear RDs say Splenda isn't absorbed.

Do we even KNOW what splenda does in the body when absorbed? How does the body

metabolize it? (I've not bothered to research it, I'll admit, since I won't

recommend artificial sugars in general.)

Now, the rifaxamin recommendaton - that's about treating the SIBO, not the

IBS! (I think I mentioned how my brother's MANY years of flatulence was

pretty much cured after a hemmoroidectomy - he doesn't recall the meds he was

on,

but I wouldn't be a bit surprised if rifaxamin wasn't one of the antibiotics

used!)

Dietitians aren't any better... I heard one of our own on TV in Toledo

claiming that Splenda wasn't absorbed by the GI tract. <sigh> They use

sucralose

in gut permeability studies to track the DEGREE of absorption through

appearance in the urine.
