Subject: Handling the Heart Healthy Presentation

This is how I replied and what I have agreed with:

" [To Marketing person] As you can tell I am having some uneasiness with

this. Obesity is a big risk factor for heart disease. Americans eat too

much especially when they are not even hungry. I don't like the idea of

rewarding participation or attendance with food. That is what dietitians do

not practice, it has been done so for such a long period in America we are

now suffering from obesity and health complications related to it. I am

thinking you probably thinking I am taking things to extreme, but rewards

and punishment shouldn't be tied to food.

The suggestion I have is to provide them with individual serving bag of

dates. Dates are one of the oldest documented foods on the earth. Can you

tell my interest is in Food Anthropology? I can also provide factual

information about the history of dates. "

I think this would add to the interest in the discussion. Good for you

sticking to your guns (as if anyone ever doubted you would!)
