Is this the change?

" More Than 55% of All Adults Considered Overweight or Obese Using National

Institutes of Health Obesity Guidelines -- Same Guidelines Used by Medical

Weight Loss Clinics for 2 Years. " PR Newswire. PR Newswire Association LLC.

1998. HighBeam Research. 17 Feb. 2011 <http://www.highbeam.com>. - 1998 change

to BMI of 30 which really doesn't seem like what most people would call 'obese'.

" The expert panel that developed the guidelines defined overweight as a BMI of

25 to 29.9 and obesity as a BMI of 30 or more. BMI describes body weight

relative to height and is strongly correlated with total body fat content in

adults. Using the guidelines, a BMI of 30 is about 30 pounds overweight and

is equivalent to a 6-foot-tall person weighing 221 pounds or a 5-foot-6-inch

person weighing 186 pounds. "

Here we go let's put our heads together and try to remember WHAT year was it

when the government changed the criteria for obesity. I remember it making the

paper about how many people became obese over night. I just can't remember the

year and has the criteria change since then with out as much fanfare!
