Summary

Support Work Incentive Medicaid Coverage: Insuring Health Care Access for Persons with Developmental Disabilities

The Florida Developmental Disabilities Council Inc. supports a Work Incentive Medicaid Coverage Program that allows individuals the ability to work, keep vital health coverage and lower the dependence on government assistance.

Developmental Disabilities Medicaid Waiver Services

Developmental Disability waiver programs are essential for individuals with Developmental disabilities and their families and must be protected.

Support Access to Oral Health Care for individuals with Developmental Disabilities

Support the Agency for Health Care Administration with their high priority legislative budget request for increases in Medicaid reimbursement rates for oral health services

Protect Early Steps, Florida’s Part C Program

Protect funding to the Part C Early Intervention program to effectively serve all children with a developmental delay or those who are at risk of developing one.

Oppose the Prepaid Therapy Services Program for children

The council opposes managed care for these services because it will limit access to providers and the choice of therapists. Ultimately a reduction in services will be the result of working within a budget reduced by 20%.

M. McKay Scholarships for Students with Disabilities Program

Support medically necessary flexible schooling hours for children with disabilities through the McKay Scholarship

Exceptional Student Education Guaranteed Allocation

Keep the Exceptional Student Education Guaranteed Allocation for the students who need these services to succeed in the classroom.

Employment First

Create a system where integrated, gainful employment is the first option available for all individuals with developmental disabilities.
