Dr. Ellenbogen/PNW'ers

Hi All,

Just thought I'd post about the status of Dr. Ellenbogen and his seeing

adult patients. I have recently communicated with him and I think

straightened things out. Here's the deal. First of all you have to be

persistent and firm with his staff. They will tell you he doesn't see

adults but you still need to make them take a message and pass it on to him

because he DOES see adults as well as kids (I think usually late in the

day). I also have his email but I really want to get his permission before

I pass it out. (it's the easiest way to get in touch with him).

The problems come when ordering tests and surgery for adults. Since he

works at Children's Hosp, they do not do adults there. Therefore he has to

do them at the UW. To do this he has to use another nsg's surgery time

there so you have to see him also, as a second opinion. This is where the

communication gets fuzzy. This other dr is Dr Shaffrey and his asst name is

Tonya. They are all very kind, this is just a new set up for them all and

it's taking some time to get things straight. So patience as hard as it is

needs to prevail. Just don't let weeks go by without hearing something.

My next testing is scheduled at UW for July 19 for T & L spine MRI's and

upper body EMG's and then I think I will be seeing both Dr.s that day. So

hopefully there will be some answers. As it stands right now, I haven't got

a GP so I have no pain meds or anything else for that matter. Found out

there are no Medi-caid providers in my county for medical (except the jerk I

won't go to again) or dental (unless I want to have all my teeth pulled in

which case there are several choices) so I am in the process of throwing a

stink at the TV stations and the governers office. I'll keep ya posted.
